About Life Seminary

Formed in Scripture. Prepared for service.

Life Seminary is a single-purpose Christian seminary offering accessible, rigorous theological education for the whole church and the whole world.

Our mission

Equip the saints for the work of ministry.

We equip women and men to know Scripture deeply, think theologically, grow in Christlike character, and serve the church and the world with faithfulness.

Our competency-based model lets students remain rooted in the congregations and communities where God has already called them. Every degree is offered through one focused School of Theology and Ministry.

From the President

A word to those considering this work.

“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.”

2 Timothy 2:15
President of Life Seminary
President

Most of the people who write to us are already serving. They preach on Sundays, sit with the grieving on Tuesdays, teach the children, plant in hard places, and carry questions they have never had the time or the means to answer properly.

Life Seminary exists for them. We were founded on the conviction that serious theological education should not require leaving the congregation that formed you, and that the years you have already given to the church are evidence of formation rather than a substitute for it.

So we have built a seminary you can study in without moving: the same Scripture, the same doctrine, the same historic creeds, held to a standard we are willing to publish in full. What we ask of you is honesty in the work and a willingness to be changed by it.

If God has put this in front of you, do not let cost or distance be the reason you set it down.

Life Seminary

Our history

Founded in 1988, for the church that was already at work.

  1. 1988

    A seminary for serving ministers

Founded to give theological education to pastors, missionaries, and lay leaders who could not leave their congregations to receive it.

  2. The decades since

    Learning across borders

Students in 190+ countries have studied from where they serve, in the languages and contexts of their own ministries.

  3. The present model

    Competency, not seat time

The seminary moved to a competency-based model that assesses what a student can actually do with Scripture, doctrine, and pastoral judgment.

  4. Today

    One school, one purpose

Every published pathway now belongs to the School of Theology and Ministry: 157 theological degrees and nothing else.

Our theological identity

One seminary. One gospel-centered mission.

01

Scripture at the center

We receive the Old and New Testaments as the authoritative written Word of God and the foundation for theological learning.

02

Christ at the center

We study in service of the gospel of Jesus Christ and the historic faith confessed by the church across generations.

03

The church in view

Our programs prepare students to preach, teach, lead, counsel, worship, disciple, and participate faithfully in God’s mission.

04

Formation for service

Academic depth belongs together with prayer, Christian character, pastoral wisdom, and compassionate ministry.
