Lord, you call before you equip, and you equip those you call. Where I am uncertain, make the next step clear. Where I am afraid, steady me. Where I am willing, keep me from running ahead of you. Let me want your will more than my own plan for it.

When you pray

Read the passage twice before you say anything. Prayer that starts with Scripture is shaped by God rather than by our own anxiety.

Name the person, the fear, the decision. General prayers are easy to pray and hard to remember God answering.

You do not have to arrive composed. The Psalms carry complaint, confusion, and anger straight to God without editing them first.

When you have prayed, stop. Picking the burden back up on the way out is the most common way we undo what we have just done.
